The Living Forest Institute was created in 2003 from a program of Social and Environmental Studies, the Institute of Southern Bahia (IESB), based on a pioneering environmental technology that promoted the local development through eco-tourism, agro-ecology and implementation of protected areas in the South of Bahia. The works involve the conservation and restoration of the nature and local sustainable development, such as the production of seeds and seedlings of native species. The institute prioritizes direct results in the ambiental protection areas from Itacaré and Serra Grande, expanding and exchanging experiences with institutions in the South, Lower South and Far South of Bahia, achieving a micro-regional dimension in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. The visit is guided with an expert on forests and the place is located 40 minutes from Ilheus.
